Jasper de Beer has been involved with the Amsterdam Klezmer Band since its foundation. In the first year he played on an acoustic bass guitar and he switched to double bass in 1997. In 2002 he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Jazz bass guitar at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, with double bass as a secondary subject. He has had lessons from, among others, Theo de Jong, Ernst Glerum, Ruud Ouwehand and Jan Hollestelle. In addition to bass guitar and double bass, Jasper also plays banjo guitar. He also composes for the AKB, his other band Naked Ears and for other projects.
Jasper de Beer is skilled in Jazz, Klezmer and Balkan, Funk and Afro grooves and odd meters. Laying down a solid foundation in music is one of his biggest priorities as a bass
player.
